*** Melodious start shot ***
When I had provided myself in 2002, access to computers, I arrived by my interest for nondutch Internet sites already rapidly on the Internet site of the American Council for the blind (ACB) and thereby the belonging ACB radio. Especially the heading ' Main menu ', which was presented Jonathan Mosen had my interest. During those months of explorations on the ' web for blind persons ' I learned it most on Wednesday, the day on which Main menu were repeating transmitted two hours long. Thanks to the tales, tips and guides, which played radio
to the volunteers of ACB, I got a very well introduction in computer country for people with leeshandicap, and files were a source of inspiration.
Recently I for a someone promised certain programme from files and visited the FTP copy site of the radio station. To my stupefaction I, which had not been updated that months long, saw. Also the Internet site was no longer up-to-date.
It a number of BlinfoMail readers also not have escaped, whom ACB radio the last months much of its lustre have lost. After Jonathan Mosen in July 2003 left the station, it took over Dave Williams of him, and since then it has declined with the station.
In December 2003 proved to be, that not only the radio station but also the rest of the organisation in difficulties found oneself. Dispute to the top led to going away Charlie Crawford, to which for five years had given control to the largest blind persons - and slechtziendenclub of America.
From responses from the target group becomes clear, who one it most annoy themselves to the fact that these developments have taken place behind closed doors. THE ACB have turned large errors, which have conducted to gossip and rumours in its attempts into confidentiality of the problems, which have reinforced vervolgens the uncertainty under the target group. In the situation such as those, is one at present (te) has now arisen much time lost to expressing apologies and the right talks of the events, whereas that time improves be spent can to solving the arisen problems.
Previous month received I a letter of the Dutch association for blind persons and slechtzienden (NVBS) concerning a restructuring planned of its own organisation. Socially social changes the NVBS have not escaped, and one considers oneself rightly on how the organisation on these changes must react. The federation slechtzienden and blind person importance (FSB) is called at the same time the same to do. The openness with which this occurs, can be welcomed. The chambers to ventilate opens you the bests with the doors, and openness has been served at good and fast reporting.
THE NVBS pronounce its care concerning by its identified isolation, in which would be himself the FSB. This care is not undeserved. Toch must be also determined that the NVBS are continue stand still where the FSB try continue. It seems significant for badly functioning bodies replace. Thereby determining the reasons hears which have conducted to the bad functioning. It is however still more significant, to beat the hands in each other afterwards as soon as possible, and common and in all openness aim the can ahead. It is thus hope that we can learn rapidly the response of the FSB, and on a way which reaches the complete target group and for its accessible is gladly.
Not everyone is able attend discussie-bijeenkomsten, and fortunately is there people under our, who have broertje dead to meet. That does not means however that there no interest exists for what takes place at the organisations which are considered our interests look after.
With the ounce nowadays for the arrangement staande resources such as e-mail, Internet sites and DAISY discs larger dynamics in the reporting belong certainly to the possibilities.
To express we lering appetites which is with the ACB to the hand there, and the plans of the NVBS consider as a melodious start shot for 2004.
